Season ticket Delay Repay compensation
Season ticket claims are usually based on a pro‑rata “single journey value”. That makes them easy to under-claim (or forget entirely) without tracking.
How it’s typically calculated
Operators usually estimate the value of one journey from your season ticket price (for example, dividing by an assumed number of commuting days/journeys), then apply the Delay Repay percentages to that journey value based on the delay length.
- Step 1: determine a “single journey value” from the season ticket.
- Step 2: identify the delay length for that journey.
- Step 3: apply the operator’s percentage (often Delay Repay 15 rules).
Example
If your season ticket works out to roughly £8 per commute, and you’re delayed by 35 minutes on a Delay Repay 15 operator, that claim might be around 50% of £8 ≈ £4 (for that journey).
This is why tracking matters: missing “small” claims repeatedly can add up quickly.
